about

Zebulon: The Creature

"There's a story I want to tell you about a...well, about a creature. A monster. You might think that there's no such thing, but let me tell you, if a human is a kind of animal, then an animal is a kind of creature, and a creature is only a few whips away from being a monster..."

A six part story about a friend who changed, and who we all thought we knew so well...

A new low-fi audio project, with vocals, instruments and atmospheric sounds recorded using a mixture of mobile phones and cheap microphones, in people's homes, out on the farm, in a forest and even in a beautiful glass atrium. Including the voices of Wendy Pryor, Regan Gardner and Ivan (Avalanche) Rehorek.

This album is best listened to late at night, on your own, while you sit with headphones on as you hide under a blanket with a torch in your hand.

Static and atmospheric sounds recorded by Morgan Taubert, except "Currawong birdsong", recorded by Carrie Wilson. Static noises recorded from a guitar amplifier, a rechargable battery port, the noise my hard drive makes while I'm running the recording software and the stereo amplifier in my lounge room.

Some instruments and vocals were recorded on my phone (LG-D380 – a 2014 model), other instruments and vocals were recorded on an AKG acoustic microphone. Mixing done using Audacity.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Rafael Antonio Roccisano.

This is a work of fiction. I was thinking about Rafael a lot while writing it, but it is not about him.

Not exactly.
